Get Ready for the 2026 Provincial Jump Rope Championships

Spring is almost here, and that means the competitive rope skipping season is in full swing. On March 21 and 22, 2026 the 2026 Provincial Jump Rope Championships are coming to Calgary, and the energy is going to be off the charts.

This two-day event is free to attend and open to the public. It’s your chance to see Alberta’s top jump rope athletes in action, showcasing speed, power, precision, creativity, and teamwork. Whether you’re a parent, supporter, or curious newcomer, there’s something electrifying about watching these athletes push their limits and bring their routines to life.

What to Expect

The championships take place at Cardel Rec South – BOB Gyms in Calgary. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. both days, and competition runs until about 5:00 p.m.

Athletes from across the province will compete in a mix of individual and team events. You’ll see:

  • Speed and endurance runs where jumpers race against the clock.

  • Freestyle performances choreographed to music, blending rhythm, gymnastics, and athleticism.

  • Team routines highlighting coordination, timing, and creative movement.

Competitive jump rope combines elements of dance, gymnastics, and athletic conditioning. It’s fast-paced and visually exciting, and competitions like this are where athletes earn the chance to qualify for national championships which will be held in Abbotsford, BC on the May long weekend.

More Than Just Competition

Beyond the medals and podiums, this event is a celebration of community and sport. If you’ve been to a competitive jump rope event before, you know the crowd support is as much part of the experience as what happens on the floor. Parents, trainers, and friends cheer on athletes of all ages as they perform skills they’ve been working on for months.
